ULI Nevada Women’s Leadership Initiative and UNLV Libraries Oral History Research Center held an event on March 28th, 2023 at the DragonRidge Country Club celebrating Women’s History Month with art, digital media, food, culture, and live music. This event brought special guests and friends of ULI Nevada together for a joyful evening.
The event featured artwork and digitized photographs of the prominent female figures, past and present, who shaped Las Vegas into the world-famous and unique city it is today. A panel of female speakers shared insight about the past, present, and future of developing Southern Nevada.
UNLV Library has amassed a digital collection about the built environment in Las Vegas in the past 100 years which includes a Nevada women’s history project.
The “Building Las Vegas” collection has digitized photographs, architectural drawings, and plans of many developments in Southern Nevada along with oral interviews the library held with many developers. (https://www.library.unlv.edu/speccol/building-las-vegas)
The “Dreaming the Skyline” collection has digitized architecture drawings of many old casino hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. (https://special.library.unlv.edu/skyline)
